Second Place Chicken at The Hudson Valley Ribfest 2012

One of my favorite competitions of the year, and by far the closest to home, The Hudson Valley Ribfest this past weekend was a blast.  As usual, we met some old friends and made some new ones too.  We shared a pot luck dinner with some neighbors and plenty of great food and cold beer was consumed.  It just doesn’t get much better than that.

We also had the good fortune to take a walk at the awards ceremony!  This time it was second place for chicken.  Go Hogs!

  • Mister Bob:

Thanks Chris, Larry and John! Next comp is The Harvard Fall Festival in Harvard, MA. Sept. 15-16. Stay tuned for the results!

  • Mauricio:

Congratulations Mr. Bob!!! your chicken looks fantastic! I made four thighs once following your photo recipe and they turned out great.
What happened to Big red is not red anymore! I love to see the pictures of that smoker.

  • Mister Bob:

Mauricio, red paint doesn’t stand up as well to the heat, and I felt it was time for a change anyway, so…Big Red goes down in flames and Black Betty (Bam-a-Lam) rises from the ashes.

  • js-tx:

Yea, I just now noticed that. Your offset is black now. Sure you don’t live in TX?! So how do you haul the pit and your toy hauler at once?

  • Mister Bob:

John, for short distances I make two trips. On longer trips, I put the cooker inside the enclosed trailer and pack everything else around her.

  • +1, Congratulations on the call. That is some amzing looking chicken! Keep having fun and sharing the adventures.

  • Eric:
